Workshop Series 1
An Integrated Curriculum
This foundational series unpacks the meaning and value of an integrated engineering curriculum within the South African context. Starting with a conceptual overview of what an integrated curriculum is—and how it can bring relevance and life to teaching—the series moves into a practical exploration of how ECSA regulations support such integration. It then introduces the eight key principles of sustainable assessment, providing educators with tools to align learning, teaching, and evaluation. The series concludes with reflections on how these principles can be implemented to sustainably transform engineering programmes. Together, these sessions lay the groundwork for future-focused, student-centred curriculum innovation.
